Drinking wine is easy: tilt glass and swallow. Tasting wine is more of a challenge. You need keen concentration, a good memory, a vivid imagination and the skills necessary to evaluate a fine wine. So, where do you learn such skills? Why school of course... Wine School that is!

Wine Tasting 101
You can now take a jump-start course to learn what to look for in a glass of wine and how to describe it at Wine Spectator's online Wine School. You'll learn this and so much more with access to such tools as:

Multimedia Presentations
More than 15 video clips from interviews with wine makers, sommeliers and restaurateurs as well as slide shows and audio presentations.

Printed Materials
Printable reference materials include work sheets, tutored tastings, tasting journals and study guides.

Step-by-Step Tastings
All the materials you'll need are provided on the Web site, except wines for the tutored tastings, a corkscrew and a printer. Most students complete the class materials on their own and then share the tutored tastings with friends. To learn more about the tastings and the course wines, download the Tasting Guidelines and Course Wine List found on the Wine School Web site.

Get started with the Wine School Mini Course
Take the mini class on Wine and Aging to taste the Wine Spectator School experience. It takes just 5 minutes. Before starting, you can download and print the Course Packet, which contains a handy reference for you to keep, a worksheet to log your progress through your class and a check list to check your answers after you complete the worksheet.

In a complete course, you'd also download a step-by-step tasting to share with friends. This sample contains the wine list for our beginner course, the ABCs of Wine Tasting.
